The Green Cosmo Zambia is a registered Non-Governmental organization that aims to provide "Green Services" to the people of Zambia in order to contribute to the global efforts of mitigating the impacts of climate change.
About Us
Green Cosmos Zambia is a non-profit, non-governmental organization dedicated to combating climate change and promoting environmental sustainability in Zambia. Established by a committed team of environmental advocates, the organization is driven by Sustainable.
Development Goal 13 (Climate Action) and focuses on preserving natural resources, fostering community engagement, and building resilience to climate impacts.
Since its recognition by the Ministry of Green Economy in January 2023 and formal registration in March 2023, Green Cosmos Zambia has implemented impactful initiatives, including the "Keep Lusaka Clean" campaign, afforestation programs, Agroecology, Climate Change Capacity building, Waste to Wealth and nationwide drought and food insecurity assessments.
A notable collaboration exists with the Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit (DMMU) under the Office of the Vice President, where Green Cosmos conducts drought and flood sensitization programs in affected districts. These efforts aim to educate communities, strengthen adaptive capacities, and inform policy decisions.
Green Cosmos Zambia’s innovative programs also empower youth through climate education and leadership development. In partnership with the U.S. Embassy, the organization has trained over 570 young leaders in climate innovation, equipping them with skills to address environmental challenges.
Through strategic partnerships with government, academia, and civil society, Green Cosmos Zambia remains at the forefront of creating sustainable solutions for Zambia’s most pressing environmental challenges.
Our Story
GRECO is composed of passionate and dedicated individuals who are committed to serving the Zambian communities and making a global impact through various services. The organization's primary focus lies in environmental protection and sustainable development. Some of GRECO's services and activities include, but are not limited to, the "Keeping Zambia Clean" campaign, advocating for afforestation, promoting the use of portable gas stoves instead of charcoal in rural areas, cleaning and rehabilitating drainage systems, organizing public rallies, and conducting educational sessions on the effects of environmental degradation and climate change.

Founded by passionate youth activists, our organization implements practical and sustainable green projects that improve living conditions in both urban and rural areas. We are committed to driving climate-conscious change through education, collaboration, and innovation. By fostering strong partnerships with government entities, civil society, and the private sector, we work to promote eco-friendly practices, support vulnerable communities, and encourage inclusive participation—particularly of women and youth—in shaping a greener, more just society. Our mission is grounded in professionalism, integrity, and an unwavering dedication to sustainable development.
Objectives
Our core objectives include supporting local councils by removing waste from public areas, promoting green energy and bio-fertilizers, and educating communities on the impacts of climate change and environmental degradation. We actively participate in global climate forums, lead afforestation and reforestation efforts, and engage women in waste management and other green initiatives. Additionally, we collaborate with industries to address counterfeit goods and implement drainage projects to mitigate the effects of seasonal flooding—all while developing adaptable strategies for climate-resilient living.
